As the organization has narrowed its focus to architectural preservation, the archival materials they originally collected have become part of the Austin-Travis County Collection (now the Austin History Center) at the Austin Public Library. The Heritage Society Board met once a year with occasional special “called” meetings.

Renamed Preservation Austin in 2012, the organization bills itself as “Austin’s leading voice for the preservation of historic buildings and places.” As a result of their advocacy and financial support, at least 300 historic properties in Austin, Texas, including the Driskill Hotel, Paramount Theater, Governor’s Mansion, Laguna Gloria, and many private residences have been preserved.

The Heritage Guild disbanded in the early 1990s, but the 1886 Lunchroom and Socializing Parlor reopened in 2002 paying homage to the Heritage Guild who successfully ran it for two decades.

During its operation as HSA, the organization worked with local, state, and national policy makers and organizations such as the Austin Historic Landmark Commission, Texas Historical Commission, and Preservation Action to ensure that preservation was at the forefront of public policy agenda.

As of 2015, Pioneer Farms has hired staff and instituted financial systems to sustain itself without the support of Preservation Austin.
